This two-day intensive course is part of the Synology Intensive Training (SIT) program and provides a comprehensive overview of ActiveProtect and ActiveProtect devices. If you successfully pass the online certification exam at the end of the training, you will receive an official Synology ActiveProtect Architect certificate.

After a brief introduction to the key concepts and components of an ActiveProtect infrastructure (backup server, management server, remote storage, hypervisors), we will show step-by-step - through a series of hands-on exercises - how to use ActiveProtect to create an effective cross-site data protection solution. We cover not only backing up different types of primary data (physical clients, servers, file servers, VMs, cloud services), but also advanced topics such as airgapping, failover scenarios, and integrating Synology NAS systems into an ActiveProtect infrastructure using ActiveProtect Vault, and more.

All DSM Architect, Backup Architect, Productivity Architect, Collaboration Architect, Surveillance Architect and ActiveProtect Architect courses culminate in Synology certification. This 60-minute test is administered online any time after the training and results are communicated to participants immediately upon completion. All participants who successfully complete the certification test will receive an official certificate and will be able to use the Synology logo.

The Synology certification obtained is valid exclusively in the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, North Macedonia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. If you are from another country and require official certification, please let us know and we will refer you to the appropriate Synology training center.

Certification exam

The exam can be taken online immediately or any time after the event. It is recommended to take the exam by the end of the next month at the most. Our trainers will explain the procedure and conditions in detail. All training materials are available for use. After passing the exam, you can download your certificate immediately. You also get access to a logo that you can use to demonstrate your certification, for example in email signatures or on social media.

Learning format

The course is delivered in English in online form. All participants have access to online labs where practical exercises take place.

The course is open for groups of 6-12 participants. This ensures sufficient individual approach and the necessary interactivity for each participant, including space for questions.

Educational Approach

  • Practical exercises and constant sharing of the lecturer's experience and opinions with the participants are part of the explanation.
  • SIT trainings are generally conducted by our certified trainers and take place mostly in Prague or Brno, or online or combined (hybrid).
  • Each training session consists of classical content and hands-on demonstrations, the DSM Architect, Backup Architect, Productivity/Collaboration Architect and Surveillance Architect courses as well as ActiveProtect Architect are concluded with a final Synology certification test.

Sit Program

The SIT program offers official Synology training courses where professional certified trainers teach you how to get the most out of your Synology NAS. Now available are two-day intensive SIT DSM Architect, Backup Architect, Productivity Architect and Surveillance Architect training modules, as well as a new two-day ActiveProtect Architect course - all with certification options. The courses focus on planning and executing Synology NAS deployment projects. You will learn how to plan and scale hardware and properly configure it for different network environments. You will also learn about system security and maintenance. You will also learn how to synchronize central data with clients and other sites, edit documents and spreadsheets in collaboration with teams, and set up your own mail and chat server.
