This two-day practical course teaches Synology backup design and operations for businesses, mixing short lectures with hands-on labs to secure data. You will configure Active Backup, manage Hyper Backup, deploy Snapshot Replication, and practice restore tasks.

You will learn to plan backup policies, set schedules, and use deduplication to meet RTO/RPO. The course covers backup planning, SaaS backups with Active Backup for Office365/G Suite, USB Copy automation, plus offsite replication and monitoring.

Training description

This course is delivered in Czech in a hybrid form, i.e. both physically and virtually, and each participant is free to choose their preferred form of instruction.

The training is primarily intended for our Czech or Slovak speaking clients.

    1. Basics of versions and deduplicated backups
    2. Full backups of Windows clients/servers, Hyper‑V and VMware
    3. File-based backups via SMB and Rsync
    4. Recovery using a recovery media
    5. Restore and direct virtualization of VM and server backups
  • Active Backup for Office365 / G Suite - SaaS environment backups
    1. Fundamentals of local backups for SaaS
    2. Backing up data, mail, contacts, calendars, SharePoint
    3. Restore individual items and whole accounts
    4. Managing and accessing backup tasks
  • Hyper Backup - data and configuration backups
    1. Overview of data and LUN backup
    2. Setup and requirements for local and remote backups
    3. Handling USB media and their properties
    4. Restoring individual data and completing backup jobs
    5. Linking existing backup tasks
  • Snapshot Replication - local and offsite snapshots
    1. Configuring local and remote snapshots
    2. Admin recovery via the DSM interface
    3. User recovery using Windows Explorer
    4. Failover scenarios when the active NAS fails
  • USB Copy 2.0 - automated import and export
    1. Automatic import from USB media to NAS
    2. Automatic export of folders to USB media ("Plug and Backup")
  • Certification exam

General hardware and network knowledge and basic Synology NAS configuration; SYN1CZ and SIT1-level knowledge recommended.
