This course offers hands-on, structured training to deepen a Linux administrator's skills in managing network services. You will deploy and configure components such as routing, firewalls, DHCP/DNS and NFS and Samba file sharing and basic web hosting.

Training focuses on realistic troubleshooting and diagnostics, showing how to monitor traffic and resolve issues using ip, tcpdump and Wireshark. Emphasis is on practical exercises, logs and troubleshooting methods to deploy and operate services reliably in production.

THIS TRAINING COURSE WILL HELP YOU:

  • Configure network interfaces, routing and TCP/IP settings
  • Set up and manage firewalls (iptables, nft, firewalld)
  • Implement and configure DHCP and DNS services
  • Deploy and secure Apache/Nginx web servers with HTTPS
  • Share files (NFS/Samba), integrate with Windows; monitor traffic (tcpdump, Wireshark)

    1. DNS principles, terminology and use in intranet and Internet
    2. Configure DNS as a forwarder
    3. Setup and operate authoritative DNS zones
  • Apache/Nginx — basic web server configuration
    1. Install and run Apache or Nginx, alternatives
    2. Prepare hosting for web apps using PHP and databases
    3. Create virtual hosts
    4. Secure sites with HTTPS and certificates
    5. Reverse proxy functionality
  • NFS — file sharing
    1. NFS architecture and configuration
    2. Create and configure NFS export options
    3. Mount NFS on the client side
  • Samba — file sharing
